Yes! The charter amendment to make L.A.’s chief of police an elected position passed with flying colors. Since Chief Barton’s second 5-year term just began earlier this year, there’ll be a special election to determine whether or not he gets to finish out said term, or has to make way for new blood. Like I’ve said before, I don’t really have anything against Barton, but at the same time, I am a firm believer in new beginnings. With the last vestiges of the cartel influence swept away, voting in a new chief with no political baggage would send a huge message. We’re taking the first steps into a bold new era for Los Angeles. Never thought I’d see the day!
